About our Club

'Bon Accord' is the motto of the City of Aberdeen meaning 'Happy to meet, sorry to part, happy to meet again.'   This is something that is strongly reflected in our club, many members have made many new friendships and we have a strong connection with former members.  Players development and further development is foremost in our minds and as such gain many returning members when players come back to the city or otherwise.  A tradition we wish to maintain always.

In June 2001 Aberdeen Bon Accord Hockey Club and Milltimber, Bieldside and Cults Hockey Club merged to form Bon Accord MBC. This merger had created one of the largest hockey clubs in Aberdeen with a membership split between both youth and senior players. The club is a fully integrated family oriented Club in the North East of Scotland and only one of a handful in the country who provide hockey for both sexes and all age groups.

The Club is also involved in the Scottish Hockey Union's Club Development Programme. MBC has been part of this programme since 1998 and was one of three Clubs selected that year. The main thrust of the involvement has been the establishment of a clear and stable partnership with Cults Academy and its feeder primary schools. This initiative has proved extremely successful with the Club providing coaching and organisational support for all school players.

M.B.C. Hockey Club was formed in 1989 and catered for Youth Hockey in the Milltimber, Bieldside and Cults area. Players were attracted to the club from other areas in the city and beyond as success upon success was achieved. MBC won many National Competitions and players soon filtered into National Squads representing Scotland in European tournaments. In 1997 MBC started and adult section to provide a natural outlet for players to progress their sport. This was duly done and MBC entered District and Regional Scottish Leagues with the clear aim of progressing to National League 1 for men in just five years. The Men's team to date have reached National League 2 status in both indoor and outdoor competition. During season 1995/6 the club also started a Girls and during season 1997/8, as a follow on women's team was started.

Aberdeen Bon Accord Hockey Club is one of the oldest hockey clubs in Aberdeen formed in 1972. It We are proud of our long history as being one of the few clubs in Aberdeen that plays Women's National league at a high level. The club grew to three womens' teams playing in National League Division 2, District League Division 1 and District League Division 2. In season 2000/2001 and 2003/2004 the 3rd X1 won promotion to North District Division 1. Due to the youth promotion of this team, they chose to stay in Division 2.
